Paladins Druids
Shaman Priests
Warriors

Current recruitment needs include the following classes: Druids with a preference towards balance, possessing a capability to play at least one other specialization competently as well; Shaman, especially the rare, dying variety that play Restoration; Priests because we fucking love them; Paladins, duh; Warriors, because we've been good as fuck, and I want to play with more warrior buddies besides Rek. As always, if you believe you are exceptional, we encourage you to apply regardless of class.

Raiding hours are 1700-2200 PST, 6-7 days a week during war... I mean... progression.

I would love to join! Yay!

» Cataclysm Tackled

So the Cataclysm raid content is finished. This marks Premonition’s 3rd expansion, and fifth year as a guild. During those years, we started off respectably ranked, and steadily improved our performance, eventually being the #1 NA raiding guild for some duration. We saw how “competitive” raiding in WoW evolved over time. Through the years, we’ve retained a certain mentality and mindset with how we conduct ourselves, fostering a different raid environment than the norm. However, the passage of time and change is inevitable. Someone who picked up WoW when it was released has been playing for about 7 years now. 7 years is nearly two full presidential terms...

I take you on a journey through ADVENTURELAND, starting in 2005. At one point, raiding successfully at the top in WoW required you to play about 5 days a week, for 4 to 5 hours a night. As the game aged and players simply pushed more aspects of power gaming to their limits, the amount of time spent raiding or preparing for it increased. 5 days a week became 6, which became 7. Raid nights started to revolve around a flask timer, and how to min/max that. Consumable farming was trivialized and now just dropping down a Cauldron locks your guild in to a raid for a few more hours. Tales and myths of EU guilds raiding in 12 hour shifts started to be heard in the Western raiding scene. Soon, we saw it with our own eyes. “Evening” raid no longer, it lasted dawn till dawn. Alternate characters started to multiply within raiding guilds, as these second (or third, or fourth, or fifth) characters were used to gain additional attempts on otherwise limited content. Now, things have taken a step further, as the absolute most dedicated guilds are pulling from a huge resource pool to run as many concurrent raids as possible, funneling gear to a choice team. The work is mirrored in the reward: Additional gear is effectively extra time, and so, this pattern is unlikely to slow down.

funnel this

I have a view of a future Orwellian world, dimly-lit sweatshop-like conditions with monitors fixed to WoW – the “best” guild has multiple full-time raid groups all laboring under the same tag. They funnel their gear to a few characters in each raid, and then recombine like a fucking transformer to create one final raid group for killing the new dragonmanking. What was once a tighter knit "team game" or sport is being manipulated by these production-line raiding machines who keep throwing more time and bodies at it. Really, there's nothing wrong with that. You've got to pay the cost to be the boss.

Anyone that’s followed us over the years has noticed that our ranking in Dragon Soul was rather badfucking awful, all things said and done. This was due to some major changes that we had to simply man up and deal with as best we could. Our previous raid hours - a rough, typically malleable window from 7-12 CST during progression - were now unsustainable by many of our older members. With our raid roster being significantly smaller than in earlier tiers, we had no choice but to push back our raid times. On top of taking two resets off for the holidays, our massively reduced raiding hours – 3 hours/5 nights, most of the time -- were clearly not effective.

Arthas did not die with grace or dignity.

We are veteran as fuck. Some people have completely changed careers, others have started families. Some have gone off to become astronauts, others have been gunned down in violent Brazilian drug crimes. It becomes more difficult to find time at the end of the day for WoW, but just because some of us are joining the trashfuck casual timmytown hasbeen ranks it doesn't mean we'll be gone for good! That said, fuck class stacking, and for goodness' sake, will you people take time off during the holidays to spend with your family? You make us feel old enough as it is.

Having experimented with a lightweight raid schedule (even if it wasn’t strictly intentional), we saw what it would do to us as a guild and in the world scene. Now that the dust has settled, action has ceased, and emotions have calmed, we’re ready to move along and set the story straight.

We are going to be increasing the size of our roster (recruiting) for Pandaclysm preparations during the next several months. We’re solely interested in players that are able to raid for 5-6 hours during progression, 6-7 days a week. While the exact composition and history of the 25 players that will ultimately form the raid continues to change, our approach and style to raiding will not.

See all you fine folks on the flip side.

Dragon Soul finally clear! There'll be a proper end-of-expansion post in the coming days or week or so. Grats to everyone in the guild that contributed to this.
